Elan and Jonathan Bogarín, Co-Directors, Writers, Producers, Cinematographers, Animators, Still Photographers...

...are a collaborative sister and brother filmmaking team.

Jonathan is a multidisciplinary artist who creates paintings, films and public artworks often in collaboration with youth. He has created public art projects in both the US and Venezuela working in partnership with organizations such as the Center for Urban Pedagogy, Life Lines Community Arts Project, Artspace Gallery, and Groundswell Community Mural Project. He has taught in institutions such as Columbia University, University of Connecticut, and Hunter College High School. He received his BFA in Painting and Art History from RISD and an MFA from Columbia University. Jonathan is a recipient of a 2008 NYSCA Arts-in-Education grant. He is currently a professor of community arts and art education at Pratt Institute.

Elan is a New York City based filmmaker/photographer and graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Elan most recently produced the feature film Big Fan for director Robert Siegel which was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival and screened in over 30 US cities. She was nominated for the John Cassavetes Independent Spirit Awards prize and a Gotham IFP Award for Best Picture. Other recent projects include God’s House a feature-length documentary about Muslims who saved Jews during the Holocaust for JWM Productions and a short documentary for the National Gallery of Art for Oscar-winning director, Aviva Slesin. In 2008, she co-founded The Wassaic Project, an annual multidisciplinary arts festival in Wassaic, New York (wassaicproject.com).

Sonejuhi Sinha, Editor/Co-Producer

Sonejuhi is a New York-based editor.  After moving to the United States from India at the age of 13, Sonejuhi developed an interest in film while obtaining her undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary in Virginia and the Tisch School for the Arts at NYU.  She began her film career organizing facets of the Cannes Film Festival in 2003 for Kodak. Since 2004, she has worked for, internationally renowned editorial company, Final Cut.  She has worked on music videos for Zero 7 and The Jupiters, as well as on brands like Intel, Mastercard and Super Bowl spots for Sobe and Gatorade.  Sonejuhi has worked alongside acclaimed directors like Frederick Bond, Barney Clay, Tony Kaye, and Marcus Nispel.  She has edited music videos that have appeared on MTV2 UK and MTV U.

Steven Wechsler, Editor

Steven recently completed two 90-minute shows for PBS/American Masters – John Ford/John Wayne: The Filmmaker and the Legend, for which he received an EMMY nomination, and Walter Cronkite: Witness to History. Steven was Senior Editor for New York Times Television on 29 one-hour documentary programs. He has edited dozens of projects for Great Performances, Bill Moyers, NOVA, Art:21 - Art in the 21st Century, City Arts and Children’s Television Workshop, and others, all of which aired on PBS; and numerous broadcast and documentary programs which aired on CBS, ABC, FOX, TLC, National Geographic, Oxygen, A&E, Bravo, Discovery, and CNBC, among others.

Fluent in Spanish, Steven has edited and produced commercials, industrials and trailers for the South American market and directed the Spanish version of the American Express monthly newsletter. In recent years he has taught production and post-production at New York area colleges including The New School For Social Research/Parsons, School of Visual Arts, SUNY/Purchase, and New York University School of Continuing Education. Steven earned his Masters of Fine Arts from New York University Graduate Institute of Film and Television, and his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the City College of New York.
